Food Service Manager Certification

This 16 hour course is presented in four evening sessions (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday for two weeks) and provides all necessary information regarding the proper hygiene and safety procedures and requirements for food handling in restaurant and institutional settings. Students will be prepared to complete the NAI exam. Upon successful completion of the course and passage of the certification examination, participants will be registered with the Virginia Beach Health Department as a Certified Food Service Sanitation Management and will receive the Food Service Manager's Certificate, which is valid for three years from time of issue. Students must have English language proficiency, both in speaking and writing, as a prerequisite for enrollment in this course.

Tuition: $191 Includes workbook, class instruction, exam and certificate. 1 cr. hr.

Note: Students may pay the registration fee by cash, money order, Visa or MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. Company checks are accepted but Personal Checks are not accepted.

Note: There is a $75.00 fee to retake the exam.

2018 Course Schedule


All classes will be held at the Hampton University College of Virginia Beach located at 253 Town Center Drive in Virginia Beach. This site is near the intersection of Central Park Ave. and Virginia Beach Blvd. Map and directions available at the Hampton University website There is free parking in the public garage that is accessible from Central Park Ave (beside California Pizza Kitchen) or Town Center Drive (across from Hilton Garden Inn). Park on levels 5-9 (daily parking) and take the north elevator to the 10th floor. The classes are held in room # 1011.
